There are many factors which you have to take into account: weather, water quality, soil, rootstock and cultural care.
I believe that in Peru you need to spray so the trees in the row could not be at the same distance as between rows. If under your condition you can maintain a level of production without alternate bearing this production level must be maintained, you go much more and something will have to give. You need to produce moderately yet consistently. You can't afford under high density to have some trees with fruit and others will not; you will be driven into attending to individual trees. Given the rapid growth of trees in Peru you should use PGR like Sunny or Cultar especially post pruning. clonal rootstocks can help
