Production Per HA, Dan Leonardo, 11. Mar 2013 12:25

I was hoping for some insight from this forum:
The average production per HA in Peru is 12-14 tons per HA. The
project I'm working on uses high density (833 plants per HA) and
assumes a "conservative" production output after 4 years of 22.5 tons
per HA. Is this realistic? The agricultural engineers I'm working with in Chincha are confident that we will hit and surpass these numbers. Can the use of high density double the average production per HA? THere are other farms in Chincha that are
using high density but none of them have reached 4, 5 or 6 years to
verify production numbers. I've read and heard that in Ica, Peru
certain farms have reached 35-40 tons per HA using high density, but
these numbers are the exception and I'm not sure that the weather and
soil in Ica and Chincha are identical to rely on those numbers. Kindly provide any information you might have regarding high density production generally per HA (and in Peru if possible). I would greatly appreciate any comments. Best regards, Dan
