If your grove is in cool coastal Camarillo 12X12 is acceptable. If it is in the interior 15x15 or 15x20 is more reasonable.
Grower's practices influence productivity. The potential for optimal production of the Hass avocado tree is thought to be 35,000 pounds per acre. However a good grove in California produces between 12-20 thoudand pounds per acre.
